The Project is located at the north of Peru, near the Ecuadorian border, at the Tumbes district, approximately 1,320 km away from the capital, Lima.
The executed works include the construction of dikes whose purpose is to protect the agricultural area, residential area and communications along the river Zarumilla. The slopes towards the river are protected by concrete filled geocells, while in highly critical zones cut-off bunds (espigones), made of stone filled gabion meshes were applied.
Various irrigation structures were also executed.
