The section V of the Ilo-Desaguadero road is located in a saddle of the Andes, connecting the Ilo port and the town of Desaguadero at the border between Peru and Bolivia. It represents the shortest connection between Bolivia and the Pacific. This section is located at the altitude between 4.500 and 4.786 meters, in the area affected by difficult climate.
