Kawempe – Luwero road, Uganda

The Kawempe – Luwero road alignment is an extension of a city road and it begins in the suburbs of Kampala. It is of international importance and it represents main trade route. This road alignment is 66km long and it is goes through an undulating landscape. Valleys are covered by marshy land, thus requiring cement stabilization. Machine stabilization was performed along the remaining part of the alignment, along with adding 30-40% of crushed stone (crushed stone base). The structures executed along the road alignment include the following: longitudinal and cross-section culverts and drainage canals. The carriageway is 7m wide with double surface coating. The shoulders, 2x1m wide, are covered with one layer surface coating.
